Another reason I can think of is that the Microblaze has a comparatively simple ISA.. Most of the instructions can be decoded by just using the first 6 bits and at most another 2/3 bits...
And I think that you can get the RTL Microblaze code, at least that's what the website says, but I think that you'll have to fork over a bundle before getting it..
