Subject: [oc] Why open processors are so much slower than commercial ones?
    Top
    Hi all,

I am working on an eval card for the llc1394 project
    (http://www.opencores.org/projects.cgi/web/llc1394/overview). I need a
compact and fast 32 bit CPU to go along with this core. So far I was not
able to identify a good alternative to the MicroBlaze (the board uses a
Spartan-3 FPGA). Can someone explain why MicroBlaze seems to be so much
faster than any of the free cores out there?

    Thanks,
    /Mikhail
