Subject: [oc] DDS
I'm new at the wonderfull world of things related to analog, so please excuse the (probally) stupid/niave questions. Is there an advantage to using a DDS core as opposed to a stand-alone chip, if all I need is a DDS? I have access to some FPGA boards, and this is just going in a single piece of test equpment. The only advantage other then having a higher frequency then something using a microcontroller that I can think of is that I wouldn't have to do any board design (This project, if it happens, has a really limited budget). Also, are there any DDS cores? I didn't see anything, but two possabilities are that I either wouldn't know one if I saw it, or that it's just a part of another core. Anyone have any suggestions, or would I probally be better off with a DDS chip from someplace like Analog that gives out free samples?
